Words and Numbers Week finishes tomorrow but the website, www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au
is still available. Following the link to Mathematics of Planet Earth2013 leads
to some interesting images and ideas for students to investigate
mathematically.
If you want to investigate
rubbish at your school, via the 'This is Rubbish' exercise, which aims to encourage
students to use mathematics to analyse waste, the following extract from our book
‘Counting on a Small Planet’, called ‘What’s in a Lunch Box?’ might give you some
ideas as to how to go about it.
